January 2022
 President's Message

Dear A.T.J.S. Members and Traditional Jazz Fans:

Your Austin Traditional Jazz Society Board of Directors has had a long period of watchful waiting during the COVID pandemic.  We thought we were clear to resume concerts in September, but that was postponed by the Delta surge.  Now it seems prudent to postpone our re-opening once again, this time because of the Omicron surge.  New cases in Texas have set two new records this week, and hospital cases are rising fast, too. For now, the Annual Jam Session will be held at the Ben Hur Shrine Temple at 7811 Rockwood Lane on Sunday, February 20 from 2pm to 4:45 pm.  We will send out a new message next month to confirm this.

I want you to know that, in making its decision, your Board also considered the responses we received from our recent survey.  ATJS concertgoers and musicians alike told us they were almost evenly split 50/50 on the question of a January jam session. We'd prefer to know that more people are eager to return to live jazz than our survey indicates we have now.  We thank everyone who answered the questions.
Please get all of your vaccinations, wear your masks in public and stay safe.  We will resume our concerts when it appears safe and responsible to do so.

Sincerely yours,

- Dave Stoddard
